Daddycatcher first entered the world of Harry Potter in November 2001 when he read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone prior to the release of the film adaptation.
He had no intention of falling in love with the book. He just wanted to see what all the hype was about. Well, before 2001 was over he had read the first four books in the series (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and couldn’t believe it would be another two years before the 5th book would be released.
Yesterday, Daddycatcher went to the discount matinee (side note: regular 3-D prices are way too expensive!!!) on Broadway & 84th Street and said goodbye to an epic that literally encompassed his 20’s. It was weird seeing the film knowing it was the final chapter. Yes, Daddycatcher cried…a little. I mean, we all knew how it was going to end.
Although the series wrapped up in the novels in 2007, the films kept the magic alive for a couple more years. And while the films didn’t always follow the books to the letter, they were a good representation of what J.K. Rowling had envisioned.
It is also great to see that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint have grown-up to be rather upstanding professionals unlike some of our American child stars (Lindsay, Shia, etc.).
Thank you J.K. Rowling for writing these books. Thanks to the cast and crew of the 8 films. It’s been a great decade with you!
Check out the trailer for the new movie, The Green, starring Jason Butler Harner and Cheyenne Jackson!
Daddycatcher highly recommends the independent film, The Four-Faced Liar, starring Daniel Carlisle, Marja Lewis, Emily Peck, and Todd Kubrak.
Grab it on DVD on Netflix or Amazon.com.
One of the great things about living in NYC is the random celebrity sightings.
This morning on his way to work, Daddycatcher sat across from Emmy winner Kyra Sedgwick on the subway. And she looked gorgeous!
And in typical New York fashion, all the other New Yorkers either didn’t notice her or didn’t want to bother her.
Daddycatcher fought very hard to not blurt out that Heart and Souls is one of his favorite movies! And that her scene at the end is so heartbreaking and wonderful!
