According to Harvey Fierstein’s Facebook status:

Word is out & it’s true- Alan Menken, Jack Feldman & I are writing the stage adaptation of NEWSIES. We couldn’t be happier with what we’ve got so far and, personally speaking, working these guys is a total joy!

Hell yes!!!!

Maybe He Just Didn’t Do It Right

Kevin Jonas, of the Jonas Brothers, is apparently back from his honeymoon.  And it sure sounds like it was a memorable one.

What does Kevin have to say about losing his virginity…”to be honest about it, sex was not worth the wait.”

Really, Kevin!?!

“After we did it, I was kind of like, that’s it?”

Maybe you just didn’t do it right?  Both you and your wife are virgins.  Give it a few tries and you’ll find it to be more appealing.

Daddycatcher’s MUSICAL MONDAY: “Matches for Sale / Say What?” from STRIKING 12

Posted in Musical Mondays on December 28, 2009 by Daddycatcher

In the week between Christmas and New Year’s, Daddycatcher always listens to Striking 12, a New Year’s Eve musical by GrooveLily.

The musical is based on Hans Christian Anderson’s story, “The Little Match Girl.”

The Big Man got Daddycatcher an iPod touch for Christmas and it holds 14,000 songs!!!!

It’s going to take awhile to get all of Daddycatcher’s cast recordings on this little device.  Loving it!!!

Christmas Eve Top 10

Posted in Holiday on December 24, 2009 by Daddycatcher

It’s Christmas Eve and Daddycatcher is counting down his favorite Christmas songs of all time.  Sure, some of them are from the recent past.  But these are the songs that put Daddycatcher in a Christmas mood.

Daddycatcher will be spending his second New York Christmas with the Big Man’s family.  And it looks like it will be a lovely holiday week!!!

10. Christmas Nite (with Latasha Spencer) – Rupaul

Daddycatcher is not really big on comedic Christmas melodies.  However, this isn’t really a song, just a hilarious story told by the most fabulous drag superstar of all time!

You’ll have to click HERE to hear it.  It is disabled by request on YouTube.

9.  The Christmas Waltz – Kristin Chenoweth

Daddycatcher has always enjoyed “The Christmas Waltz” but it was Kristin Chenoweth’s rendition that put it on the Top 10 list.

8.  Winter Song – Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson

As he mentioned above, Daddycatcher is not big on comedic songs.  He likes his holiday songs a little haunting and somber.  This definitely fits the bill.  Daddycatcher loves the ending: “Is love alive?”

7.  River – Sarah McLachlan

The only version that comes close to matching Joni Mitchell’s haunting original.

6. All Alone on Christmas – Darlene Love

Of course, once the eggnog (and rum) starts flowing, the upbeat Christmas songs make Daddycatcher want to dance.  Some may argue that “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” is the ultimate Darlene Love Christmas song.  She even references it in this song! But with  references to so many New York iconic places and being featured in Home Alone 2, Daddycatcher just can’t get enough of it.

5. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – Mariah Carey

Darlene Love must have known what she was singing about in “All Alone on Christmas” because “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” is also one of Daddycatcher’s favorite Christmas songs.  Mariah Carey’s cover is just plain awesome.  Daddycatcher likes it far more than that other song on her album.  You know, the one everyone else loves.  Sure, her voice in this clip doesn’t hold up like it used to but it’s one of the best tracks of her Christmas album.

4. Carol of the Bells – Celtic Woman or Any Choir Whatsoever

Whether it’s Celtic Woman or the Morman Tabernacle Choir, Daddycatcher loves “Carol of the Bells.”  He’s got 5 different versions on his iPod.

3. Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) – Trans-Siberian Orchestra

This version of “Carol of the Bells” is electrifying.  There really is no other way to describe the epic scale of Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s most famous composition.

2.  Where Are You Christmas? – Faith Hill

Daddycatcher fell in love with this song the instant he heard it.  Faith Hill puts such passion and fierceness into the song.  It gives Daddycatcher chills every time he plays it.

1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas – Judy Garland

Surprised? Probably not.  This is the standard by which all other covers should be measured against.  And let’s not shy away from the melancholy nature of the song.  It’s heartbreaking, but it’s a yearning to be with the ones you love on Christmas!!!
